It has been brought up before, but I think it would be a good idea to create a separate collection for periodical texts such as penny dreadfuls, newspapers, comics, and the like. Whereas books tend to survive a bit easier over time, periodicals are not always archived, and they can be of great value and interest for us, too.

I can see the potential problems with anthology magazines and the like if certain texts were later renewed, though, but other than that, there should be no reason why such a collection wouldn't be beneficial, and it would encourage people to upload more.

David,
I already have a collection page for comics and pulps will be coming soon.
The holdup was in getting archive personel enough free time to do it. I will be making the request again soon.

See:

I have several thousand pupls and comics which I will be putting up as time permits. These items are impossible to get from local libraries and collectors will not let you read them. Digitizing them means literally destroying the item, but it is worth it so that others can see these important parts of American Cultural History.
